J.C. Loudon
Known as an encyclopedist, his "Encyclopedia of Gardening" was the most comprehensive ever published at the time. Mr. Loudon was the founder of "The Gardener's Magazine" which was considered the most popular gardening magazine of its time. He christened "gardenesque", a new style of the middle-class Victorian garden. Basically designed for displaying the new plants of the era.
He worked on Dumbarton Oaks, in Washington, D.C.
