Have larger pots on wheels to ease in moving. Easy on the back. Foam handles on tools often make digging easier, less calluses. Wear insect repellent in the garden. Plant insect repellent plants like garlic, onions, chives, and chrysanthemums. To bring ladybugs in the garden, plant Queen Anne Lace. Try and plant at least one new plant each year. Be sure to treat cuts immediately. Infections set in fast. If you get a deep puncture wound go and get a tetanus shot. Get in shape before gardening season - you will have less tired muscles. Treat poison ivy at once - It spreads! Lift with your legs, not your back. Work in the early hours of the morning because it is less exhausting. Plant for yourself, not for friends or neighbors. When making a fresh cut arrangement be sure to strip the leaves from the stems. Leaves in the water of a flower arrangement will create bacteria and lessen the days for enjoyment. Walk around your neighborhood to see what the locals are planting. Learn from their successes. Then be yourself. Wear light color clothes to repel insects. |
